White Sox, Street Fights, Crossroads, The Second City, Wrigley, etc...another weekend in Chicago

Making the quick hour and a half drive from Milwaukee to Chicago we decided to check out a White Sox game. The team on the South Side of town had a very nice home. Concourses were open and easy to navigate. The right field seats were also a great place to sit. The best part of the stadium was the Bullpen Bar located underneath the right field bleachers. It was a full bar/restaurant that was located right behind the away team's bullpen (Minnesota Twins on this evening). This bar is a great place to migrate if the game is a blowout or if you are just trying to watch the game from a different (indoor) perspective.

Chicago (unlike many cities) bars are open super-late. Regular bars close around two and then 4/5 am bars open up. Needless to say walking around Chicago at 3 am you are bound to see some interesting things - first we visited a Country Music bar (only accepted cash) and served Mexican food, then I witnessed a legitimate street fight between 3 girls (2 v. 1 - and the solo girl was being hammered in the head by one of the other psycho ladies), next was a heavy-metal bar with eclectic artwork on the walls.

The following morning it was college football time...Virginia Tech v. ECU (Seth went to ECU). We watched the game at Crossroads (an Iowa/Virginia Tech bar). It was great to watch the game with fellow Hokies around. The bar had a great selection of beverages and good food...but what made it great was the bar jenga, lounge area, and the playing of Enter Sandman, Stick It In!, and other various Hokie customary cheers.

That evening led to The Second City comedy club. Which has been host to such comedians as John Candy, Jim Belushi, Joan Rivers, Stephen Colbert, Bill Murray, Tina Fey, and Adam McKay (to name a few). We saw "The Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life" and it satirized many modern day situations that are currently taking place. My favorite part was the Improv Act at the end of the scripted portion.

Finally on our last day in town we visited the legendary Wrigley Field. It was my second trip, but this time I toured the halls and really got to appreciate the historical landmark that it is. The game was a pitcher's duel and rain delayed. Nevertheless, nothing caps off a trip to Chicago like Wrigley.
