Did you just ask me if I wanted a beer to go?

After Jacksonville, we headed north to Savannah, Georgia. We went out for some seafood at Fiddler's Crab Shack which was located right on the river. While sitting out on the patio we watched some ginormous ships set sail, and also had a great view of the bridge heading over to South Carolina. Had a decent steak and also tried some fresh crab legs again...

We made quick friends with our waitress Jessie - who recommended some local hot-spots and also informed us of the concept of "Beers To-Go". We finished up dinner and ordered a beer for the road and then headed out to those "hot-spots". We watched the Steelers v. Bengals game at The Rail Pub. It was here that Jessie met up with us with some friends and then we bounced around Savannah. Hang Fire was another fun bar which we learned used to be a gentleman's club and still had a pole above the bar as decoration.

We ordered found a pizza shop that was open and sold JUMBO slices. While we ate the pizza we took turns riding around Savannah on Jessie's pink/purple roadster bike - to make it even cooler the bike had spoke candy beads that reminded me of childhood. I rode the bike back to the hotel and had the slightly embarrassing walk into the hotel lobby with the bike...once inside I said hello to the hotel employee and rode the elevator up to my room with the bicycle.

I returned the bike to Jessie the next morning and we ate at The Distillery where I had some delicious "Hog Hammers" - bbq pork that fell off the bone. The food was great and the atmosphere inside was awesome. It was decorated with Prohibition-age photos and propaganda. The TVs showed old silent movies and black & white beer commercials.

The rest of the week in Georgia was filled with a trip to Americus - which had tons of tributes to Jimmy Carter (the president). The end of the week featured a brief trip to Atlanta, but then it was off to Virginia Tech for a visit!
